Description:

Recognizing the opportunity for and the development of compliant clinical documentation integrity (CDI) queries is essential to any CDI program. This CDI Query workshop is an interactive opportunity for CDI query professionals to learn how to recognize CDI query opportunities and practice the compliant process of developing a CDI query. This interactive workshop will use real case scenarios to help the attendees apply the information. The case scenarios will include opportunities to identify and write various types of CDI queries, including a special focus on clinical validation.

This workshop is for new CDI query professionals or CDI query professionals who would like to have a refresher in the development of compliant CDI queries. Attendees will have the opportunity to identify documentation opportunities and develop compliant CDI queries and receive feedback from AHIMA experts.

Many challenges and opportunities exist related to collecting, sharing, and using social determinants of health (SDOH) data. During this workshop, speakers will identify these as well as highlight best practices for SDOH data sharing between healthcare providers and community-based organizations, specifically related to food insecurity, housing instability, transportation needs, utility difficulties, and interpersonal safety.

Attendees will work on their own data set or may use an example to create their own “Data Story” using the tools and techniques from the workshop. All will be encouraged to participate in “The Voice of Data,” an AHIMA exercise where real Chiefs/VPs of clinical informatics and data analytics will be available to provide valuable feedback.
