As Vice President of Government Affairs for MRO, Morrell leads the government affairs efforts. She manages all activities related to federal and state legislative and regulatory advocacy.
Morrell has more than 25 years of health policy and government affairs experience covering both state and federal legislative activity tied to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance and health IT.
Prior to joining MRO, she operated her own consulting firm advocating for health plans and provider clients. Morrell previously served as senior vice president of public, government and community affairs at SCAN Health Plan where she oversaw all aspects of the company’s government affairs strategy as a member of the senior leadership team.
Prior to SCAN, Morrell was the executive vice president of federal and external affairs at America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), overseeing the trade association’s advocacy, government affairs and public policy activities. Morrell spent over a decade at Health Net, Inc./Centene as the vice president for government relations.
Morrell began her career on Capitol Hill, where she held legislative positions with a U.S. Senator and Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. She received her Bachelor of Arts in history and art history from Kenyon College.
