Never Give Up

We’re excited to announce that the legendary Diana Nyad, world-renowned athlete, inspirational speaker, and author, will be our opening keynote speaker at AHIMA24! Recently portrayed by Annette Bening on Netflix, Diana's resilience and perseverance embodies the commitment of our Health Information profession.

At age 60, having not swum a stroke in decades, Hall of Fame swimmer Diana began planning for her white whale of distance swims: the 110-mile ocean crossing between Cuba and Florida. She’d tried it once, in her 20s, and severe jellyfish attacks had defeated her then. With a new commitment to her vision, she attempted it again and accomplished this incredible feat 30 years after she failed to complete it before.

In this moving conversation, “Never Give Up,” Diana shows us that it is never too late to chase our dreams and shares the key steps we all need to take in order to accomplish our goals, no matter how big. You won't want to miss Diana's incredible story of perseverance, grit, and triumph that will inspire you to never give up!

Improving the Collection, Sharing and Use of SDOH Data: Lessons Learned from Data for Better Health

Last year, AHIMA launched Data for Better Health®, an effort to increase awareness of how collecting, using, and sharing SDOH data can improve health and healthcare outcomes. Throughout the past year, AHIMA has convened experts, highlighted best practices, and formed partnerships to take on this issue. In that process, we have learned many lessons that the field can use to further advance the collection, use, and sharing of SDOH data. During this panel, we'll share our lessons learned from Data for Better Health and feature speakers who will share their own experiences, opportunities and challenges related to this work.

Join AHIMA President-Elect, Maria Caban Alizondo and a panel of SDOH experts for this can’t miss event! Learn more about this presentation, here.
